Starter Motor: Service and Repair

Removal

1. Disconnect battery ground cable, then raise and support vehicle.
2. Disconnect starter cable from solenoid, then the starter motor relay-to-solenoid wire.
3. Remove starter attaching bolts and the starter.

Installation

1. Position starter motor to engine and torque attaching bolts to 20-25 ft. lbs.
2. Connect starter cable to motor and torque to 41-44 inch lbs.
3. Connect starter relay to solenoid wire, then lower vehicle and connect battery ground cable.
