Removal
1. Remove pivot bolt, nut and washer securing control arm to crossmember.
2. Remove stabilizer bar-to-control arm attaching nut.
3. Remove front washer and cover from end of stabilizer bar.
4. Raise and support vehicle.
5. Remove and discard cotter pin and nut from control arm ball joint, then lower control arm from vehicle.
6. Remove control arm and stabilizer bar bushings, Figs. 1 and 2.
Installation
1. Install control arm bushing as follows:
a. Apply rubber lubricant to control arm bore and outer surface of bushing.
b. Install bushing using tools shown in Fig. 3. Install bushing with a quick, continuous motion to avoid damage.
2. Install stabilizer bar bushing as follows:
a. Secure control arm in a vise.
b. Install one bushing using tool No. T88M-5493-B or equivalent, then tighten screw to seat bushing.
c. Invert control arm and install second bushing.
3. Slide control arm onto stabilizer bar, ensuring rear washer is properly positioned on stabilizer.
4. Install front washer cover and the stabilizer bar-to-control arm attaching nut. Do not tighten nut at this time.
5. Install ball joint into spindle carrier. Torque nut to 48-62 ft. lbs., then install new cotter pin.
6. Pull bottom of tire inward until control arm enters crossmember and aligns with bolt holes. Secure arm in this position using a drift punch.
7. Install control arm pivot bolt, washer and attaching nut. Snug nut but do not tighten at this time.
8. Lower vehicle, then torque control arm pivot bolt to 22 ft. lbs.
9. Torque stabilizer bar-to-control arm attaching nut to 52-81 ft. lbs.
