Fig. 25 Parking Brake Cable Adjusting Locknut:
1. Release parking brake lever.
2. Pump the brake pedal to ensure the brake lining self-adjuster is properly set.
3. Raise and support vehicle.
4. Loosen the adjuster locknut, Fig. 3, then rotate adjuster sleeve along cable casing until in-and-out movement can be felt at both parking brake stop plungers.
5. Tighten the adjuster against the retaining bracket until a slight movement is felt at each stop plunger. When added together, the total movement of the plungers should not exceed 0.16 inch. (4.0 mm)--a very slight movement.
6. Tighten the locknut by hand against the sleeve as much as possible.
7. Tighten the locknut an additional two ``clicks'' using pliers.
8. Turn the rear wheels by hand to ensure the brake linings are not dragging against the drum.
