Curb Idle Speed Adjustment
NOTE: Idle speeds should be checked initially at 7500 miles, then at 15,000 mile intervals. Refer to ``Tune Up Specifications'' for specified curb and fast idle speeds.1. Ensure that ignition timing and valve lash are properly adjusted and that all vacuum hoses and engine harness connectors are securely connected.
2. Connect suitable tachometer to engine following manufacturer's instructions.
3. Start and operate engine until normal operating temperature is obtained.
4. Ensure that all electrical accessories are off, then check idle speed with transmission in Neutral.
5. If idle speed is not within specifications, adjust by turning idle air screw as necessary. Do not tamper with the adjustment screw to the right of the idle air screw. Any tampering with that screw will affect driveability and/or damage the throttle body.
