ISSUE: The main relay connector has been changed from a 6-pin type to a 4-pin type to establish common connector parts.
ACTION: If service is required, use the following service procedure to inspect the main relay and check electrical continuity at the terminals.
1. Turn the ignition switch ON and OFF. Check to see if the main relay clicks, Figure 1.
Figure 2:
2. If clicking is not evident at the main relay, check for continuity at the terminals.
a. Apply 12V to terminal "a", Figure 2.
b. Ground terminal "b" of the main relay, Figure 2.
c. Use an ohmmeter to check continuity at the terminals "c" and "d".
^ When 12V are applied there should be continuity.
^ When 12V are not applied there should not be continuity.
Figure 3:
d. If the main relay fails the continuity test, replace it with new relay assembly (E7FZ-12A646-A). Refer to Figure 3 for a wiring schematic.
