Suspension: Adjustments
Fig. 3 Rear Sensor Arm Ball Stud:
Fig. 4 Rear Suspension ``D'' Dimension Adjust:
NOTE: This adjustment procedure must be performed prior to any service or diagnostic procedure. Without first adjusting vehicle's ride height and any service or diagnostic procedure is conducted, false readings and/or the replacement of satisfactory components will result.
1. Adjust rear suspension ride height ``D'' dimension by moving rear sensor arm ball stud, Fig. 3. Three adjustments positions available.
2. Loosen attaching nut, one position change to the sensor attachment should indicate a 0.75 inch change (upward or downward) to rear suspension ride height ``D'' dimension.
3. Apply static load, if vehicle does not return within 0.5 inch of initial ``D'' dimension, adjust height sensor connecting link length with load as follows:
a. Connecting link remains attached to ball studs when link rod lengthening, Fig. 4.
b. Loosen jam nuts, ensuring rod is stationary.
c. Rotate link rod clockwise (as viewed under vehicle), one 360 degree rotation should indicate a 0.25 inch change in up direction to ``D'' dimension.
d. Adjust link rod, up to a maximum of five times, ensuring vehicle rises within 0.5 inch of measurement made in step 1. Additional turns will result in inadequate thread engagement, 3-1/2 threads minimum, in each ball stud socket.
e. Torque jam nuts to 15-21 in lb.
4. Continue DIAGNOSIS AND TESTING PROCEDURES/TESTING PROCEDURES/SYSTEM OPERATIONAL CHECK
