TRANSAXLE - ATX AND AXOD COOLER LINE FITTING REPLACEMENT

LINCOLN-MERCURY: 1989-90 CONTINENTAL, SABLE, TOPAZ

ISSUE: Some selected 1989 and all 1990 model year ATX and AXOD transaxle oil cooler lines have a new design "Quick-Connect" fitting at the transaxle. The fitting aids in assembly. A line retention clip is used to prevent the oil cooler line from coming out of the fitting. Since the "Quick-Connect" fittings require unique oil cooler lines as well, they will not be used for service.

ACTION: If service is required on the oil cooler lines, install an angled flare fitting (E2SZ-7D273-D) into the transaxle. Rework the oil cooler lines as required. Refer to the appropriate Car Shop Manual, Section 17-25 for service details.
