ISSUE: Deposit resistant injectors (DRI) are resistant to the formation of deposits at the fuel metering area. The DRI's are tan in body color (not connector color) and do not require cleaning.
ACTION: Although cleaning the DRI's is not warranted, testing of all fuel injectors should continue as before. Use the following procedure for servicing the DRI's.
1. Before testing the DRI'S, make sure that the Rotunda Fuel Injector Tester/Cleaner (Part # 113-00001) does not contain injector cleaner fluid by rinsing out the unit with clean and filtered unleaded high detergent gasoline. Refer to TSB 89-15-3 for proper maintenance information.
2. Calibrate the flowmeters on the Rotunda Fuel Injector Tester/Cleaner using the master calibration injectors supplied.
3. Connect the Rotunda Fuel Injector Tester/Cleaner to the vehicle as described in the instructions.
4. Perform the fuel injector test.
5. Replace the injector if it does not pass the bench test.
NOTE: CLEANING THESE INJECTORS WITH THE ROTUNDA TESTER/CLEANER, OR WITH ANY OTHER SERVICE TOOLS, IS NOT NECESSARY.
