Cooling System: Testing and Inspection

Perform visual inspection prior to performing any diagnosis and testing procedures.
1. Check coolant level and condition.
2. Check condition of radiator, thermostat and hoses.
3. Check for fan blade interference.
4. Check for proper mounting of fan motor.
5. Check for proper fan blade attachment to motor.
6. Check for blown fuses.
7. Check wiring harnesses for damaged wires and poor or corroded connectors.
8. Ensure battery is fully charged.
If no visual or mechanical problems can be found, since the engine cooling fan system is controlled by the Electronic Control Module (ECM), check the computer system for stored trouble codes.
