Air Cleaner Housing: Service and Repair

Air Cleaner Assembly:

REMOVAL

1. Loosen air cleaner outlet tube clamp and disconnect tube.
2. Disconnect PCV hose assembly from filter pack fitting on end of air cleaner tray.
3. Remove air cleaner to battery tray retaining screw at end of air cleaner tray.
4. Disconnect air cleaner inlet tube assembly by pushing in top and bottom tube surfaces at air cleaner tray inlet and pulling tube outward. Lift air cleaner up and out of engine compartment.
5. Inspect inside surfaces of cover for traces of dirt leakage past element as a result of damaged element seals, wrong element, or inadequate torque on cover retaining clips.





INSTALLATION

1. Position air cleaner assembly to battery tray. Slide the air cleaner locator button into the vertical grommet at side of battery tray.
2. Install air cleaner inlet tube into opening at side of air cleaner tray until it snaps into place.
3. Align air cleaner grommet with battery tray retaining clip and install retaining screw. Ensure the air cleaner grommet is fully seated into the air cleaner tray mounting tab with metal side of grommet up. Tighten screw to 36 lb. in. (4 N-m)
4. Connect PCV hose assembly to filter pack fitting on air cleaner tray.
5. Connect air cleaner outlet tube to air cleaner cover and push tube up to the rib on the cover. Tighten clamp to 18 lb. in. (2 N-m).
