Electronic Day/Night Mirror
The Automatic Day/Night Mirror automatically switches to the night position to reduce glare from headlamps approaching from the rear.
With the Ignition Switch in RUN, power flows through the RUN Fuse and the 298 (P/O) wire to the Automatic Day/Night Mirror. A Photocell Amplifier in the mirror assembly activates the electronics in the mirror assembly when headlamps approaching from the rear are sensed.
The Backup Lamp Switch closes when the transmission is in REVERSE. With this switch close, power flows through the TURN Fuse and 298 (P/O) wire, the switch, and the 140 (BK/PK) wire to the Automatic Day/Night Mirror. This voltage at the mirror assembly deactivates the electronic circuit in the mirror assembly to prevent the mirror from switching to the night position when the Backup Lamp Switch is in REVERSE.
