Courtesy Lamp: Description and Operation

Voltage is applied at all times to the Courtesy Lamp 54 (LG/Y) circuit.

Dome Switch

If the Dome Switch thumbwheel is turned on, an outside door handle is raise, a keypad button is pushed (if equipped with Keyless Entry), or a Door Courtesy Lamp Switch is closed, current flows through the Instrument Panel Courtesy Lamps, the Door Courtesy Lamps, the Rear Courtesy Lamps, the Dome Lamp and the Door Lock Lamps.

Map Lamps

Individual Map Lamps can be turned on by the individual Map Switches at any time. The Glove Box Lamp, Engine Compartment Lamp and Trunk Lamp can be turned on at any time by activating their respective switches.

Vanity Lamps

Vanity Lamps have voltage applied to the individual switches at all times. When the mirror cover is opened, current flows through the 2 amp fuse and resistor to provide subdued lighting to the mirror. Closing the mirror lamp intensity switch applies full battery voltage to the lamp circuit, and the brightness of the Vanity Lamps is increased.
