Air Cleaner Housing: Service and Repair

REMOVAL
- Release hold-down clips from air cleaner cover and position aside.
- Remove air filter element.
NOTE: Do not remove the Mass Air Flow (MAF) meter from air cleaner lid except for replacement.

INSPECTION
Visually inspect filter element, air cleaner cover and body for signs of dust or dirt leaking through holes in filter media or past the seals. Place a light behind the filter element and check. Even the smallest hole is cause for replacement. Discoloration is not cause for replacement. Also check the element for deformed seals, charred or brittle spots.

INSTALLATION
- Wipe all inside surfaces of the air cleaner body and cover.
- Install air filter element.
- Install tabs into three hinges on inboard side of air tray and center the air cleaner lid. Snap the two clips into locked position.
