Rustproofing

To ensure that no damage occurs to passive restraint motor and mechanism, refer to the illustration for recommended locations for drilling the required rustproofing wand access holes. Use one of the following drill bits: R-500 12.7mm (1/2-inch) or equivalent, Rotor Broach with locating pin, RBA-330 (Arbor) or a Unibit VII 12.7mm (1/2-inch) or equivalent size drill bit.

1. Insert appropriate rustproofing wand into drilled holes shown in rocker panel and A-pillar. Direct spray to shaded areas while withdrawing wand.

2. Insert appropriate wand into lower drilled hole in B-pillar with indicator pointing toward outside surface. Spray while slowly withdrawing wand. keep nozzle as far from surface as possible. Repeat process by rotating wand slightly and making sufficient passes to cover indicated area.

3. Make a final pass with the wand directed downward to coat the wheel well seam.

4. Insert appropriate wand into upper drilled hole in B-pillar as far back as possible. Direct spray toward inside outer panel surface as wand is withdrawn. Repeat as necessary.

CAUTION: Do not spray toward passive restraint motor and mechanism. Rustproofing will cause the system to not operate properly.
