Rear

Control arms must be replaced in pairs.

If both upper control arms and both lower control arms are being removed at same time, remove both coil springs.

LOWER ARM

1. Disconnect battery ground cable and turn air suspension switch OFF.
2. Mark rear suspension shock tube relative to protective sleeve with vehicle on level ground.
3. Remove rear stabilizer bar, then raise and support vehicle and place jackstands below rear axle.
4. Lower vehicle until rear shocks are fully extended to relieve spring pressure.
5. Support axle below differential pinion nose as well as below axle.
6. Remove and discard lower arm pivot bolt and nut from axle bracket.
7. Disengage lower arm from bracket.
8. Remove and discard pivot bolt and nut from frame bracket. Remove lower control arm.
9. Reverse procedure to install. Tighten to specifications.

UPPER ARM


Control arms must be replaced in pairs. Remove and replace one control arm at a time to prevent axle from rolling or slipping sideways.

If both upper control arms and both lower control arms are being removed at same time, remove both coil springs.

Removal

1. Raise vehicle and support frame side rails with jackstands.
2. Support rear axle.
3. Lower axle and support below differential pinion nose.
4. Remove and discard nut and bolt securing upper arm to axle housing. Disconnect arm from housing.
5. Remove and discard nut and bolt securing upper arm to frame bracket. Remove arm.

Installation

1. Hold upper arm in position on front arm bracket. Install new bolt and self-locking nut. Do not tighten.
2. Secure upper arm to axle housing with new nuts and bolts. Bolts must be pointed toward front of vehicle.
3. Raise suspension with hoist, until upper arm rear pivot hole is in position with hole in axle bushing. Install new pivot bolt and nut with nut facing inboard.
4. Tighten to specifications.
