Windows: Description and Operation
The power windows can be operated from a master control switch on the driver's door armrest or from the remote switch located in each of the other three doors.
On vehicles equipped with power door locks, the master window switch and the driver's side door lock switch are combined into one assembly: the Master Window/Door Lock Control Switch.
Operation from the Master Window/Door Lock Control Switch
With the Ignition Switch in ACC or RUN, voltage is present at the Master Window/Door Lock Control Switch through the Circuit Breaker 12.
Moving the left front switch portion of the Master Window/Door Lock Control Switch to the DOWN position applies voltage to circuit 226 (W/BK), while circuit 227 (Y) remains grounded. The Left Front Window Motor runs and the window glass lowers.
Moving the switch to the UP position applies voltage to circuit 227 (Y), while circuit 226 (W/BK) remains grounded. The Window Motor runs in the opposite direction and the window glass rises.
When the left front switch is in the neutral position, both Motor wires are grounded through the Master Window/Door Lock Control Switch.
Operation of the right front, left rear and right rear power windows is similar to operation of the left front power window.
The Master Window/Door Lock Control Switch contains a lockout switch. If this lockout switch is in the LOCK-OUT position, the remote switches do not receive power and cannot be used to operate the power windows. The power windows can, however, be operated from the Master Window/Door Lock Control Switch regardless of lockout switch position.
Operation from the Remote Window Switches
Operation of a power window from the Right Front, Left Rear and Right Rear Window control Switches is similar to operation from the Master Window/Door Lock Control Switch; however, the remote window switches receive power through the Master Window/Door Lock Control Switch and circuit 170 (R/LB).
