ISSUE:
Various shift concerns and a Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) may be caused by water entry into the vehicle harness connector and MLP/TR Sensor.

ACTION:
Validate the concern and, if necessary, install a MLP/TR Sensor Service Kit. Refer to the following procedure for service details.

1. Confirm the shift concern.

2. Perform normal On-Board Diagnostics.

3. Inspect the MLP/TR Sensor for water contamination.

4. If signs of water entry are present and a DTC has been set, replace the 1992 MLP/TR Sensor and the vehicle harness connector with a 1993 MLP/TR Sensor Service Kit (F2DZ-7A247-A). Refer to Instruction Sheet # 6586A, included in the kit, for installation instructions.

Each model dependent MLP/TR Sensor Service Kit (F2DZ-7A247-A) contains one each of the following components:

^ MLP/TR Sensor

^ Connector Assembly

^ "Red" Pin Separator Plate

^ 6 Pin Grommet

^ Instruction Sheet # 6586A
