RADIO - PREMIUM ANALOG CASSETTE (PAC) SPEAKERS - AUDIO INTERMITTENT OR INOPERATIVE

FORD: 1992 TAURUS

LINCOLN-MERCURY: 1992 SABLE

ISSUE: Audio may be intermittent or inoperative in the right, left or all speakers. This may be caused by the continuity plug not being fully seated or it may be missing.

ACTION: If service is required, use the following procedure to restore audio.

1. Check to be sure that the continuity plug is present. It should be inserted at the top right hand side of the connector block at the rear of the radio chassis.

2. Press in firmly on the plug, making sure it is fully seated. Check for proper audio operation.

3. If the continuity plug is missing, send the radio to your authorized Ford Audio Service Center for repair.

4. If the continuity plug is present, fully seated and the audio is still inoperative, refer to the 1992 Taurus/Sable Service Manual, Section 15-00, for further diagnosis.
