1992 Taurus/Sable Station Wagon Liftgate Latch


TECHNICAL INSTRUCTIONS

The liftgate latch may not latch in the secondary position. Inspect and if necessary replace the latch assembly.


INSPECTION PROCEDURE

1. Open the liftgate and remove the liftgate key.

2. Raise the liftgate to the "up" position.

3. Using a small phillips screwdriver to simulate the striker, push the latch through the secondary and primary positions. LISTEN FOR TWO CLICKS. If the latch does NOT click twice, replace the latch.

If the latch does click twice, no further action is required. Release the car.

NOTE: BEFORE CLOSING THE LIFTGATE, BE SURE THE LATCH IS UNLOCKED!
