Fuel Gauge Sender and Low Fuel Warning Module

The magnetic Fuel Gauge controls pointer position based on the resistance of the Fuel Gauge Sender. The sender provides at least 145 ohms of resistance when the fuel tank is full and less than 22.5 ohms when the fuel tank is empty.

The Low Fuel Warning Module will light the Low Fuel Warning Indicator when the Fuel Gauge Sender reaches approximately 35 ohms or less (fuel Indication approximately 1/8 tank). The module circuit contains a filter which will prevent indicator from blinking on/off with fuel movement in tank. Because of this filter, under low fuel movement in tank. Because of this filter, under low fuel conditions there will be up to a two minute delay immediately after Ignition ON before indicator turns on. The module does not have a lamp prove out feature.

Temperature Gauge

The magnetic Temperature Gauge controls pointer position based on the resistance of the Coolant Temperature Sender. The sender provides 74 ohms of resistance when the engine coolant is cold and 10 ohms when the engine coolant is hot.

Tachometer

The Tachometer is controlled by a solid-state circuit. With the Ignition Switch in START or RUN, voltage is present at the solid-state circuit through the 10A fuse 18 and circuit 640 (R/Y). With the engine running, Ignition Coil pulses proportional to engine speed are presented to the solid-state circuitry. the solid-state circuitry responds to these inputs by operating the Tachometer needle.

Shift Indicator

The Shift Indicator is controlled by the Electronic Engine control, which grounds the indicator through the Shift Indicator Dimmer Relay when the engine has reached an efficient shift point. the Shift Indicator Dimer Relay reduces the brightness of the indicator when the headlamps are on.
