Emergency Release Levers

WARNING: DO NOT OPERATE VEHICLE UNTIL BOTH EMERGENCY RELEASE LEVERS LOCATED IN THE FLOOR CONSOLE ARE IN THE DOWN POSITION, IN ORDER FOR THE SHOULDER BELTS TO PROTECT THE OCCUPANTS.

If either of the emergency release levers is in the raised position, the indicator lamp located in the instrument cluster and the indicator lamp in the console will flash and the warning chime will make a continuous, audible signal until the release levers are pushed down.

In the event of a collision, the shoulder belt retractor is designed to lock up in order to protect the occupants and may remain locked up after the accident. If this occurs, lift the emergency release lever located on the center floor console for the occupant to exit the vehicle.

WARNING: AFTER A COLLISION, HAVE THE BELT SYSTEM INSPECTED BY A QUALIFIED TECHNICIAN TO VERIFY IT IS IN PROPER WORKING ORDER.
