FORD: 1992-93 CROWN VICTORIA, TEMPO

LINCOLN-MERCURY: 1992-93 GRAND MARQUIS, TOPAZ

ISSUE: Tempo and Topaz vehicles built for the U.S. market between 2/20/92 and June 1993 will use two (2) abrasion materials for the lower body protection.

ACTION: If service repairs are required, refer to the stone protection material manufacturer's instructions.

NOTE:
THESE LOWER BODY SIDE STONE PROTECTION MATERIALS SHOULD NOT BE REMOVED. THE INTENT OF THESE MATERIALS IS TO PROVIDE STONE ABRASION PROTECTION TO THE LOWER BODY SIDE. REMOVAL OF THIS MATERIAL MAY RESULT IN STONE PECKING OR PEELING OF THE SURFACE.

Vehicles built in the Kansas City Assembly Plant have urethane lower body side protection material. This material has no texture and may be difficult to notice. Its application will continue until June 1993.

Vehicles built in the Oakville Assembly Plant have a PVC lower body side stone protection material. This material has an "orange peel" or "texture" look and is easily noticeable.

In June 1993, both assembly plants will be using the PVC lower body side stone protection material.

Please be sure that all dealership sales and service personnel are aware these changes.
