Road Testing

1. Raise and support rear of vehicle on rear wheel drive models, or front of vehicle on front wheel drive models placing jack stands under the lower control arm assembly in order to keep halfshaft assemblies in a lateral position, then block the opposite set of wheels. Never attempt to use the vehicle bumper jack for a test of this type.
2. Start engine, then shift transmission to D.
3. Turn speed control system on. If any time during the following steps the system should appear to go out of control and overspeed, be prepared to turn speed control system off at once with the Off or ignition switch.
4. Accelerate and hold at 35 mph.
5. Press and release Set Acc button. Hold foot pressure very lightly on accelerator pedal. Speed should continue at 35 mph for a short period of time, then gradually start to surge due to lack of engine load.
6. Press Off button. The engine should decelerate to idle. Stop drive wheels with service brakes.
7. Press On button, accelerate and hold speed at 35 mph.
8. Press and hold Set-Acc button. Slowly remove foot from accelerator. The engine RPM should gradually increase.
9. When the speed reaches 50 mph, release Set-Acc button. The vehicle should maintain 50 mph for a short time before surging begins.
10. Press Coast button and hold. The engine should idle. Slow drive wheels to 35 mph.
11. Release Coast button. Speed should set at 35 mph and surging should soon start.
12. Press and release brake pedal. The system should shut off, engine should decelerate to idle.
13. Set speed at 50 mph. Using brakes, decelerate to 35 mph, then maintain with the accelerator. Depress and release Resume button. The speed should return to 50 mph.
