Drive Belt: Specifications

ALTERNATOR/WATER PUMP BELT

Adjust the tension of the belt using either Belt Tension Gauge tool No. 021-0028A or equivalent, or deflection method.
Using Belt Tension Gauge tool No. 021-0028A or equivalent, position the gauge on the longest accessible span of the belt and use the following specifications: New Belt (no run time), adjust tension to 85.8-103.4 lbs. Run the engine for 10 minutes, then readjust belt tension. Used Belt (more than 10 minutes of run time), adjust tension to 68.2-85.8 lbs.
Using the deflection method, New Belt (no run time), belt deflection measurement should be 0.31-0.35 inch. Used Belt (more than 10 minutes of run time), belt deflection measurement should be 0.35-0.39 inch.

POWER STEERING & A/C COMPRESSOR BELT

Adjust the tension of the belt using either Belt Tension Gauge tool No. 021-0028A or equivalent, or deflection method.
Using Belt Tension Gauge tool No. 021-0028A or equivalent, position the gauge on the longest accessible span of the belt and use the following specifications, New Belt (no run time), adjust tension to 110-132 lbs. Run the engine for 10 minutes and readjust tension. Used Belt (more than 10 minutes of run time), adjust tension to 95-110 lbs.
If you are using the deflection method, New Belt (no run time) belt deflection measurement should be 0.31-0.35 inch. Used Belt (more than 10 minutes of run time), belt deflection measurement should be 0.35-0.39 inch.
