^ IGNITION SWITCH - LOCK CYLINDER STICKS/BINDS/GRABS WHEN DRIVER TRIES TO ROTATE KEY
FORD:
1991-93 ESCORT
LINCOLN-MERCURY:
1991-93 TRACER
ISSUE:
The ignition lock cylinder may "stick/bind/grab" when the driver tries to rotate the key. If the driver tries to rotate the key to the "off" position (with excessive force) while the transaxle is still in gear (automatic transaxle-equipped models only), a burr may form on the ignition cylinder when it is interlocked by the interlock pin.
ACTION:
Replace all the vehicle lock cylinders. The service lock cylinder set contains an improved ignition lock cylinder. Refer to the appropriate model year Service Manual, Section 11-04, for service details.
