Headlamp: Description and Operation
Current is supplied to the Headlamp Switch at all times by the 30A "HEAD" fuse located in the Main Fuse Panel. The Headlamp door Motors are powered by the 20A HLM fuse located in the Main Fuse Panel, both of these fuses are hot at all times. When the Headlamp Switch is in the "HEAD" position, current flows from the "HEAD" fuse through the Headlamp Switch and Flash To Pass Switch to the Headlamps and the Headlamp Control Module. The current in the Headlamp Control Module energizes a relay which allows current to flow from the HLM fuse through the Headlamp Control Module to activate the Headlamp Door Motors. The "HEAD" fuse also supplies current to the Flash To Pass Switch at all times. Flash-To-Pass can be operated with the Headlamp Switch in the "OFF" position and the Headlamp retractors in the "DOWN" position. This is done by pulling back on the Dimmer Switch. This will close the contacts of the Flash to Pass Switch and allow current to flow to the Headlamps and to the Headlamp Control Module which activates the Headlamp Door Motors. The Headlamps may be serviced by opening the Headlamp Doors without activating the Headlights. this is done by depressing the Headlamp Lift Switch. Current is supplied to the Headlamp Lift Switch by the HLM fuse. Current flows through the Headlamp Lift Switch to the Headlamp Control Module which activates the Headlamp Door Motors. A manual control knob, located under a rubber boot, is provided at the rear of each Headlamp which allows each Headlamp Door to be operated separately if there is no electrical power available.
