The vehicle may exhibit a buck/jerk during coast-down decels that last longer than five seocnds at speeds of 50 mph (80.5 km/h). This is caused by the operating strategy of the Powertrain Control Module (PCM).
ACTION:
Refer to the following Diagnosis And Repair Procedure to determine if a new PCM with revised calibration is required.
DIAGNOSIS AND REPAIR PROCEDURE
1. Perform diagnosis including a Quick Test as outlined in Section 2A of the 1993 Powertrain Control/Emissions Diagnosis Service Manual and service as required.
2. If the concern is still present and no PCM codes are present, then verify that the concern occurs after a decel of 5 seconds or longer at speeds of 50 mph (80.5 km/h) or above.
3. If the concern is repeatable, replace the PCM with the part number shown in the following PCM Replacement Chart.
Obtain an Authorized Modifications Decal and list the date, dealer number, and summary of alterations performed. Select a prominent place adjacent to the Vehicle Emission Control Information Decal suitable for installing the Authorized Modifications Decal. Clean the area, install the decal, and cover it with a clear plastic decal shield.
