Front License Plate Bracket - Loose

LICENSE PLATE BRACKET - FRONT-LOOSE OR FALLS OFF

LINCOLN-MERCURY:
1992-93 SABLE

ISSUE:
A loose or missing front license plate bracket may be caused by the rivets pulling through the holes in the bumper.

ACTION:
Enlarge the holes In the bumper and bracket. Install new "petal" type rivets which will not pull through the bumper holes. Refer to the following procedure for service details.

LICENSE PLATE BRACKET MODIFICATIONS

1. Remove the front license plate.

2. Drill out the three (3) rivets retaining the front license plate bracket to the bumper.

3. Remove the front license plate bracket from the bumper.
4. Use a 6.5 mm (0.257") or 6.6 mm (0.261") drill bit to enlarge the three holes in the front license plate bracket and the three holes in the front bumper.

5. Position the front license plate bracket to the front bumper and install three (3) N806830-S100 rivets.

6. Install the front license plate.
