1. Install memory saver, then disconnect battery negative cable.2. Remove steering column lower opening cover (knee bolster).
3. Remove A/C recirculating air duct from below steering column.
4. Cover seat to protect it from damage. Remove four (4) nuts retaining steering column to steering column bracket. Lower steering column tube and wheel to rest on the seat cushion. Refer to Figure 3.
5. Remove upper steering column opening cover. Refer to Figure 3.
6. Remove headlamp switch knob by pulling straight out from headlamp switch. See Figure 3.
7. Detach headlamp/dimmer switch trim panel by pulling at the LH end to unsnap it from the instrument cluster finish panel. See Figure 4.
8. Twist out bulb socket from the trim panel then remove trim panel from the vehicle.
9. Remove instrument cluster opening finish panel as follows:
^ Remove two (2) screws retaining the LH end.
^ Remove two (2) screws at the top of cluster opening.
^ Pull out at the LH side of panel and disconnect two (2) electrical connectors.
^ Remove instrument cluster opening finish panel. See Figure 4.
10. Remove and discard headlamp switch.
11. Inspect headlamp switch electrical connector for heat damage. If the electrical connector exhibits obvious heat damage, it must be rep laced.Obtain harness kit part # F8LZ-11654-BA and install harness connector according to the instructions on Page 13 of this attachment. If the electrical connector does not exhibit obvious heat damage, proceed to next step.
NOTE:
Perform the following step only if the headlamp switch electrical connector is not damaged.
12. Remove terminal B3 from the headlamp switch electrical connector. See Figure 5. Cut terminal end off wire 13 mm (1/2 inch) from connector.Splice on new wire with correct terminal end obtained from switch + B3 kit, F8LZ-11654-CA. Install terminal into B3 terminal slot of connector.
13. Install new headlamp switch.
14. Reconnect two electrical connectors.
15. Install instrument cluster opening finish panel.
16. Install bulb socket in headlamp/dimmer switch trim panel, then install trim panel.
17. Install headlamp switch knob.
18. Install upper steering column opening cover.
19. Raise steering column to installed position. Tighten retaining nuts to 13-17 Nm (9-13 lb/ft).
20. Install A/C recirculating air duct.
21. Install steering column lower opening cover (knee bolster).
22. Connect battery negative cable, then remove memory saver.
23. Check operation of headlamp switch.
