Air Cleaner Housing: Service and Repair

REMOVAL

1. Loosen air cleaner outlet tube clamp at Mass Air Flow (MAF) sensor and throttle body. Remove air cleaner outlet tube.

2. Remove engine air cleaner retaining screw. Disengage pins retaining engine air cleaner to engine air cleaner bracket.

3. Disconnect PCV inlet tube.

4. Disconnect Pulsed Secondary Air (PAIR) injection hose from air cleaner tray by rotating adapter 90 degrees clockwise.

5. Disconnect Intake Air Temperature (IAT) sensor and MAF sensor electrical connectors.

6. Remove engine air cleaner and duct assembly from vehicle.

INSTALLATION

1. Ensure that air cleaner mounting grommet is installed in tray with metal flange side up. Position engine air cleaner in vehicle.

2. connect IAT and MAF electrical connectors.

3. Install PAIR hose adapter to air cleaner tray by inserting ears and rotating 90 degrees counterclockwise.

4. Fully install air cleaner inlet tube to tray.

5. Install PCV inlet tube to its engine air cleaner inlet hose adapter.

6. Install engine air cleaner in engine air cleaner bracket by engaging the front pin to grommet first, then the side pin. Install air cleaner retaining screw.

7. Install air cleaner outlet tube to MAF sensor and throttle body. Tighten clamp to 2.7-4.0 Nm (24-35 lb in).

8. Start engine and check for vacuum leaks around both ends of tube from air cleaner to throttle body.
