BUMPER COVERS - PLASTIC - MINOR SURFACE DAMAGE REPAIR GUIDELINES
FORD:

ISSUE:
A minor scratch or gouge in a plastic bumper cover does not always require replacement of the bumper cover. Often, the bumper covers can be repaired rather than replaced.
ACTION:
Guidelines have been developed to help determine when repairs can be made. Use the following guidelines to determine when to make repairs.
Check the bumper and/or cover for type and area of damage.
^ BUMPER - (TAURUS/SABLE, TEMPO/TOPAZ, AEROSTAR) - If the scratch or gouge is .050" (1.27 mm) deep on the bumper surface, BUT NOT OPPOSITE THE BACKSIDE REINFORCEMENT, it can be repaired. If the damage is no more than .020" (.51 mm) any place on the bumper, it can be repaired.
^ BUMPER COVER - (THUNDERBIRD/COUGAR, MUSTANG, CONTINENTAL, MARK VIII, TOWN CAR, CROWN VICTORIA, GRAND MARQUIS, TAURUS SHO) - If the damage is no more than .050" (1.27 mm) deep any place on the bumper cover, it can be repaired.
