Oil Charge
Nippondenso 10P13 CompressorA new service replacement compressor contains 7.75 ounces of a special paraffin base refrigerant oil (part No. Motorcraft YN-9). Before installing replacement compressor, drain oil from old and new compressors. If three to five ounces of oil was drained from old compressor, install the same amount of oil drained from old compressor. If more than five ounces was drained from old compressor, install five ounces of new refrigerant oil in new compressor. If less than three ounces was removed from old compressor, install three ounces in new compressor.
When replacing the accumulator/dryer drill a 1/2 inch hole in old accumulator body and drain oil from hole. Add same amount of new oil plus two ounces to new accumulator/dryer.
When other air conditioning system components are replace add the following quantities of refrigerant oil: Evaporator core, 3 fluid ounces; Condenser, 1 fluid ounce.
Replacement of other components such as an orifice tube or hoses does not require the addition of any refrigerant oil.
Ford FS6 & Nippondenso 6P148 Compressors
A new service replacement compressor contains 10 fluid ounces of refrigerant oil. Before installing replacement compressor, drain 4 fluid ounces of oil from compressor in order to maintain total system oil charge within specified limits.
When other air conditioning system components are replace add the following quantities of 500 viscosity refrigerant oil: Accumulator, same amount drained from old accumulator plus 1 ounce (drain accumulator through pressure switch fitting); Evaporator core, 3 fluid ounces; Condenser, 1 fluid ounce.
Replacement of other components such as valves or hoses does not require the addition of any refrigerant oil.
Tecumseh HR-980 Compressors
A new service replacement 4 cylinder compressor contains 8 fluid ounces of refrigerant oil.
