Brake Light Switch: Description and Operation

Typical Brake Pedal Position Switch:

The Brake On-Off (BOO) switch detects braking action (deceleration). The PCM modifies idle speed, air/fuel ratio, torque converter clutch operation, and A/C compressor operation. The BOO switch is mounted at the brake pedal assembly. The switch is OFF when brakes are APPLIED.
