Brushes Test

NOTE: Alternator must be disassembled to inspect brushes.

1. Inspect bushes for wear.
2. If brushes are worn down to wear line, replace.
3. Use a suitable spring pressure gauge to push each brush into its holder. Tip of brush should project 0.079 inch out of its holder.
4. Check brush pressure. If brush pressure is not 5.6-15.5 oz, replace brush spring.
