ISSUE:
Some vehicles may exhibit a rough idle and/or a hesitation/stumble on acceleration. This may be caused by poor fuel quality.
ACTION:
Replace the Powertrain Control Module (PCM) with a new calibration PCM which allows for poor fuel quality. Use the following procedure to determine if a new PCM with a revised operating strategy is required.
1. Perform the diagnostic procedure in the 1994 Powertrain Control/Emissions Diagnosis Service Manual. Service as required.
2. If the concern still exists, install a new PCM. Refer to the application chart.
Obtain an Authorized Modifications Decal and list the date, dealer number, and summary of alterations performed. Select a prominent place adjacent to the Vehicle Emission Control Information Decal suitable for installing the Authorized Modifications Decal. Clean the area, install the decal, and cover it with a clear plastic decal shield.
