AIR CONDITIONING - INACCURATE OR ERRATIC HEATER/AIR CONDITIONING OPERATION - MANUAL AND SEMI-AUTOMATIC TEMPERATURE CONTROL
FORD:
1994 THUNDERBIRD
LINCOLN-MERCURY:
1994 COUGAR
ISSUE:
Some vehicles may exhibit inaccurate or erratic Heater/Air Conditioning temperature control operation. This may be caused by one or more of the wires on the blend door actuator jumper harness being chaffed and shorting on the instrument panel support bracket.
ACTION:
Visually inspect the A/C blend door actuator jumper harness for chaffing and shorting. If no chaffing is evident, refer to the 1994 Thunderbird/Cougar Service Manual, Section 12, for A/C system diagnostics. If chaffing is evident, replace the blend air door actuator jumper harness and install a piece of electrical tape over the instrument panel support bracket and wrap the new jumper harness where the old jumper harness was chaffing.
