LINCOLN-MERCURY:
1994 COUGAR

ISSUE:
A "NO CRANK" or intermittent "NO CRANK" condition in temperatures of 25~F (-4~C) or lower may be caused by moisture in the starter solenoid freezing and not allowing the starter to energize.

ACTION:
Replace the existing starter motor with a new service starter motor assembly. Refer to the 1994 Thunderbird/Cougar Service Manual, Section 03-06, for removal and installation procedures.

CAUTION:
WHEN REMOVING THE HARNESS CONNECTOR AT THE SOLENOID BLADE TERMINAL, GRASP THE PLASTIC HARD SHELL AND PULL STRAIGHT OFF. DO NOT PULL ON THE WIRE. DOING SO WILL DAMAGE THE HARNESS CONNECTOR AND REPEAT FAILURES WILL BE INCURRED.
