Index:
Wheel hubs and front wheel bearings are installed as follows:
- Each front wheel is bolted to a wheel hub.
- There are two opposed tapered roller front wheel bearings (inner and outer) with grease retainer seals (inner and outer), encased in one single cup or cartridge.
- This front wheel bearing assembly is pressed into the LH front wheel knuckle/RH front wheel knuckle bore from the inboard side until it rests against the shoulder on the outboard side.
- A snap ring is installed in a groove on the inboard side of the LH front wheel knuckle/RH front wheel knuckle bore for added bearing retention. A bearing front wheel dust shield (3K070) is installed on the front wheel knuckle inboard of the front wheel knuckle / front wheel bearing / wheel hub assembly.
- The wheel hub assembly is pressed into the front wheel bearing / front wheel knuckle.
- The front wheel driveshaft and joint splined shaft is pressed through the wheel hub.
- A prevailing torque front axle wheel hub retainer and washer retain the wheel hub assembly to the front wheel driveshaft and joint.
