ISSUE:
A "squealing" noise may come from the rear brakes on some vehicles when braking. This may be caused by a high frequency chatter between the leading and trailing edge of the lining and the rear rotor surface.
ACTION:
Replace the rear brake pads with new pads which have an added chamfer on the leading and trailing edge of the pad. This chamfer should reduce the possibility of rear brake squeal. Refer to the appropriate Service Manual, Section 06, for brake pad replacement procedures.
NOTE:
MAKE SURE THAT ONE (1) OF THE TWO (2) SLOTS IN THE REAR DISC BRAKE PISTON AND ADJUSTER FACE IS POSITIONED SO IT WILL ENGAGE TAB ON REAR BRAKE SHOE.
