Affected Vehicles:
1994 Tempo/Topaz Equipped with 2.3L engine and
1992-1994 Tempo/Topaz Equipped With 3.0L Engine
Required Parts:
F43Z-14K095-BO - 2.3L Equipped Vehicles
F43Z-14K095-BB - 3.0L Equipped Vehicles
Installation Procedure:
1. Open hood.
2. Install memory saver, then disconnect battery negative cable.
3. Remove air intake tube resonator assembly from upper radiator support, it equipped.
4. Disconnect the existing wiring harness connector from the engine cooling fan motor. Disconnect the push pin retainer securing the existing vehicle harness to the shroud webbing. The webbing is made of thin material and can break easily. Use caution in removal.
5. Using a 9/32 inch drill bit, drill a hole in the shroud straight down at the 12 o'clock position and 3/8 inch in from the back edge. See Figure 1.
CAUTION:
Dry fit all of the connectors. Do not use any conductive lubricant.
6. Connect the jumper harness to the fan motor and to the existing vehicle wiring harness.
7. Remove fan shroud retaining screw from upper left corner.
8. Position fuse holder to upper left corner of shroud and reinstall retaining screw. Tighten to 3.5-4.5 Nm (31-41 lb/in). See Figure 1.
9. Attach existing vehicle wire harness push pin retainer to the newly drilled hole in the top of the fan shroud.
10. Attach the jumper harness to the existing hole in back of the shroud using the push pin retainer supplied. See Figure 1. Please note that some models will use only one retainer.
11. Install resonator assembly, if equipped.
12. Connect battery negative cable, then remove memory saver.
13. Check cooling fan motor for proper operation.
14. Close hood.
Affected Vehicles:
1994-1995 Taurus (except SHO)/Sable Equipped with 3.0L Engine
Required Parts:
F43Z-14K095-CA
Installation Procedure:
1. Open hood.
2. Install memory saver, then disconnect battery negative cable.
3. Disconnect existing vehicle wiring harness connector from cooling fan motor. Disconnect wire loom and retainer from fan shroud.
4. Remove upper left fan shroud retaining nut.
5. Position fuse holder mounting bracket over retaining stud with fuse in upright position. Reinstall retaining nut and tighten to 3.5-4.5 Nm (31-41 lb/in).
CAUTION:
Dry fit all connectors. Do not use any conductive lubricant.
6. Connect jumper harness to the cooling fan motor and to existing vehicle harness.
7. Position female connector to the fan shroud as shown in Figure 2. Keeping the connector as low as possible and still making sure it stays flat against the shroud, mark the location of the two (2) mounting holes on the shroud.
8. Disconnect female connector and position connector halves out of the way.
CAUTION:
The radiator is located directly behind the area to be drilled. Use a drill stop or other devise to prevent damage to the radiator.
9. Using a 9/32 inch drill bit, drill two (2) holes at locations marked in step 7.
CAUTION:
Dry fill all connectors. Do not use any conductive lubricant.
10. Reconnect female connector to vehicle wire harness. Using the two (2) push pin retainers provided, attach the jumper harness connector to the fan shroud at the holes drilled. See Figure 2.
11. Connect battery negative cable, then remove memory saver.
12. Check cooling fan motor for proper operation.
13. Close hood.
Affected Vehicles:
1992-1994 Lincoln Continental Equipped with 3.8L Engine
Required Parts:
F43Z-14K095-DA
Installation Procedure
1. Open hood.
2. Install memory saver, then disconnect battery negative cable.
3. Remove the sight shield from above the radiator and engine cooling fan area.
4. Disconnect existing vehicle wiring harness connector from cooling fan motor harness.
5. Disengage cooling fan motor wire harness retainers from their locations on the shroud.
6. Reposition and secure cooling fan motor harness to mounting pad located on fan shroud to the right of the original location using existing retainer. See Figure 3.
7. Install jumper harness onto fan shroud as shown in Figure 4. Make sure harness is positioned so fuse holder is as far away from retainer as possible. Refer to Figure 4.
8. Position fuse holder in place on radiator upper support sheet metal and mark location of the mounting hole. See Figure 4.
CAUTION:
The radiator and a wire harness are located directly below the area to be drilled. Position the wire harness out of the way prior to drilling. Use a drill stop or other device to prevent damage to the radiator.
9. Position the fuse holder out of the way. Then, using a 9/32 inch drill bit, drill one (1) hole at location marked in Step 8.
NOTE:
The fuse holder is to be mounted under the radiator support sheet metal.
10. Using the supplied nut and bolt attach fuse holder to the under side of the radiator support sheet metal. Tighten to 3.5-4.5 Nm (31-41 lb/in). Refer to Figure 5.
CAUTION:
Dry fit all of the connectors. Do not use any conductive lubricant.
11. Connect jumper harness to the cooling fan motor harness and to existing vehicle harness.
12. Secure the vehicle wiring harness to the fan shroud mounting pad located at the 11 o'clock position (if vehicle so equipped) or at the 12 o'clock position, using the existing harness retainer. See Figure 5.
13. Connect battery negative cable, then remove memory saver.
14. Check cooling fan motor for proper operation.
15. Install sight shield.
16. Close hood.
