This notice is sent to you in accordance with the requirements of the National Traffic and Motor Vehicle Safety Act.
Ford Motor Company has decided that a defect which relates to motor vehicle safety exists in certain 1991-1994 Lincoln Continental and certain 1991-1995 Taurus/Sable cars with 3.8L engine and speed control option.
Safety Defects
When operating one of these vehicles with the speed control engaged in temperatures well below freezing over an extended period of highway travel the throttle may not return to idle when the speed control is disengaged. It this occurs, the engine speed would remain the same even though the speed control is disengaged creating the risk of a vehicle crash. The vehicle can be brought to a stop through braking, shifting to neutral gear, or turning the ignition oft.

How Long Will It Take?
The time needed for this service is less than one-half day. However, due to service scheduling times, your dealer may need your vehicle for a longer period. Please call your dealer for a service date.
