Air Flow Meter/Sensor: Service and Repair

Mass Airflow Sensor:






REMOVAL

1. Disconnect battery ground cable.

2. Disconnect engine control sensor wiring from Mass Air Flow (MAF) sensor.

3. Loosen engine air cleaner tube clamps on engine air outlet tube and air cleaner outlet tube. Disconnect tubes from MAF sensor.

4. Remove MAF sensor-to-bracket retaining bolt and remove mass air flow sensor.


INSTALLATION

1. To install, reverse removal procedure.

2. Tighten MAF sensor retaining bolt to 4.7-5.0 Nm (42-46 in lb).

3. Tighten engine air cleaner tube clamps to 1.4-2.5 Nm (12-22 in lb).

NOTE: When the battery has been disconnected and reconnected, some abnormal drive symptoms may occur while the powertrain control module relearns its adaptive strategy. The vehicle may need to be driven 10 miles or more to relearn the adaptive strategy.
