Brake Master Cylinder: Service and Repair






1. On models equipped with Anti-Lock Brakes (ABS), depress brake pedal several times to exhaust all pressure in the system.
2. Disconnect brake lines from master cylinder, then all necessary electrical connectors.
3. On models equipped with ABS, disconnect hydraulic control unit supply hose at master cylinder. Secure hose in a position to prevent brake fluid loss.
4. Remove nuts retaining master cylinder to brake booster.
5. Remove master cylinder.
6. Reverse procedure to install. After installation is complete, fill master cylinder with brake fluid and perform brake bleeding procedure.
