Catalytic Converter: Service and Repair

REMOVAL
^ Raise vehicle.
^ Remove front catalytic converter flange fasteners, loosen rear U-bolt connection.
^ Separate catalytic converter inlet and outlet connections. Remove flex joint gasket and discard.
^ The gasket is pressed onto the Y-pipe. To service, remove gasket material from pipe using a suitable tool. Use care not to damage gasket mounting surface.
^ Remove converter.

INSTALLATION
^ Install converter to muffler.
^ Install a new flex joint gasket. Install converter and muffler assembly to inlet pipe/flex joint, and position U-bolt.
^ Align exhaust system. Starting at front of system, tighten all nuts and bolts to specification.
^ Check system for leaks and lower vehicle.
