Over Voltage Test

NOTE: Perform this test if voltmeter indicates more than two volts above base battery voltage.

Terminal Locations:

1. Disconnect regulator harness connector and insert jumper wire for "A" and "I" circuits.
2. Turn ignition switch to ON position and with engine OFF, connect suitable voltmeter negative lead to alternator rear housing and positive lead first to alternator output connector at starter solenoid, then to regulator harness connector "A" pin.
3. If difference is more than 0.5 volt, service "A" wiring circuit to eliminate high resistance condition, then perform Under-Voltage Test. Under Voltage Test
4. If battery voltage is obtained at both locations, replace regulator.
