EMISSIONS CONTROL SYSTEM
INSPECTION/TECHNICAL INSTRUCTIONS
EMISSIONS RECALL 93E48

AFFECTED VEHICLES:
1994 Tempo/Topaz vehicles with 2.3L and 3.0L Engines built at the Oakville, Canada Assembly Plant September 14 and 15, 1993.

Instructions:

1. Raise the vehicle on a hoist.

2. Remove the left front wheel and tire assembly.

3. Remove fender splash shield.





4. Inspect the evaporative emissions carton canister hose connections (Figure 1).

a. If connected, go to Step 5.

b. If not connected, connect the rubber vapor hoses. Go to Step 5.

5. Reinstall the wheel and tire assembly. Tighten the wheel lug nuts to 115-142 N-m (85-105 lb.ft.).





6. Obtain, prepare and attach Authorized Modification Decal (FPS 8262). Insert your P & A code and the date. Attach the decal to a clean surface on the fan shroud. Place the clear overlay on the decal.

7. Provide owners of California vehicles with "Emissions Recall - Proof of Correction" certificates.
