G5 - Check MAP/BARO Sensor Output

NOTE: For vehicles without a Manifold Absolute Pressure (MAP)/Barometric Pressure (BARO) sensor, go to G6. G6 - Check Intake Air Temperature (IAT) Sensor

NOTE: Special Tool Required. MAP/BP Sensor Tester 105-00001. This tool converts the frequency output of the MAP/BP sensor to an analog DC signal, and verifies the sensor reference voltage is within normal parameters.

Measure several known good MAP/BARO sensors on available vehicles. The measured voltage will be typical for your location on the day of testing. Refer to Pinpoint Test DF for schematic. DF - Test Schematic

- Key "OFF"

- Disconnect MAP/BARO sensor from vehicle harness.

- Connect MAP/BARO tester between the vehicle harness connector and MAP/BARO sensor.

- Insert MAP/BARO tester banana plugs into Digital Volt/Ohm Meter (DVOM).

- DVOM on 20 volt scale.

- Key "ON", engine "OFF".

- Measure MAP/BARO sensor voltage on vehicle.

Altitude To Voltage Table:

- Is DVOM voltage in range for area altitude?

Yes -- Remove MAP/BARO tester. Reconnect MAP/BARO sensor. Go to G6. G6 - Check Intake Air Temperature (IAT) Sensor

No -- Replace MAP/BARO sensor. Remove MAP/BARO tester and breakout box. Reconnect all components. Rerun quick test. Quick Test Appendix (Detailed Testing Instructions)
