^ ONP 00M10 ENGINE REPAIR AND RELATED DAMAGE

^ 3.8L ENGINE REPAIR AND DETERMINATION OF RELATED DAMAGE





The chart and repair procedure should be referenced when determining repair actions on the 3.8L engine.

Recommended Inspection/Repair Procedures

Condition:

Vehicle exhibits one of the four following conditions

^ persistent and worsening overheating engine condition

^ heavy white smoke from the tailpipe

^ flashing "low coolant" sensor light, even after coolant is re-filled

^ constant loss of coolant

Repair:
If condition is caused by head gasket leakage (assumes front cover and intake manifold gaskets are not leaking) replace head gaskets as per ONP 00M10. Do not remove the oil pan and inspect bearings for 00M10 repair.

Condition:
Vehicle exhibits a "lower-end" engine knock condition.

Repair:
Request replacement FQR engine

All instances of lower-end engine knock must be annotated on the repair order (hard copy) at the time of write-up.
