With FS-10 A/C Compressor
REFRIGERANT OIL ADDITION DURING A/C COMPRESSOR REPLACEMENTNOTE: The suction accumulator/drier and A/C evaporator core orifice must be replaced and a filter kit installed whenever the A/C compressor is replaced and evidence of debris is present.
When reinstalling the existing A/C compressor or installing a new A/C compressor, remove as much oil as possible. The A/C compressor shaft should be rotated about six to eight revolutions while pouring the oil from the ports. This effectively empties the A/C compressor of oil.
1. Obtain a clean container that can also be used as a measuring device.
2. Place the A/C clutch assembly on the A/C compressor shaft so the shaft can be rotated.
NOTE: Service A/C compressors are shipped without compressor oil.
3. Rotate the shaft by hand six to eight revolutions, collecting the oil in a clean measuring device.
4. If the amount of oil drained from the old A/C compressor is between 85-142 ml (3-5 ounces), pour the same amount plus 30 ml (1 oz) of clean Motorcraft YN-12b refrigerant oil or equivalent meeting Ford specification WSH-M1C231-B into the new A/C compressor.
5. If the amount of oil that was removed from the old A/C compressor is greater than 142 ml (5 ounces), pour the same amount drained of clean Motorcraft YN-12b refrigerant oil or equivalent meeting Ford specification WSH-M1C231-B into the new A/C compressor.
6. If the amount of refrigerant oil that was removed from the old A/C compressor is less than 85 ml (3 ounces), pour 85 ml (3 ounces) of clean Motorcraft YN-12b refrigerant oil or equivalent meeting Ford specification WSH-M1C231-B into the new A/C compressor.
