Wheel Bearing and Wheel Hub

Wheel hubs (1104) and front wheel bearings (1215) are installed as follows:

- Each front wheel (1007) is bolted to a wheel hub.

- The front wheel bearing assembly is pressed into the front wheel knuckle/bore from the inboard side until it rests against the shoulder on the outboard side.

- A snap ring is installed in a groove on the inboard side of the bore for added bearing retention.


- The wheel hub assembly is pressed into the front wheel bearing located on the front wheel knuckle (3K1 86).

- The front wheel driveshaft and joint splined shaft is pressed through the wheel hub.

- A prevailing torque wheel hub retainer retains the wheel hub assembly to the front wheel driveshaft and joint (3B436).
